What To Know

  • Empowering providers to partner with patients in their care to achieve increased patient satisfaction and better clinical outcomes is one of SWHR's primary objectives, along with serving the more than 13,000 Medicare beneficiaries in the Care N' Care health plan.
  • “Jim has been an excellent steward of our financial resources, supported innovation in the quality care for our patients and will continue to focus on expanding our network to serve North Texas,” said Daniel K.

Jim Beiermann has been appointed to serve as Senior Executive Officer (SEO). Previously serving as SWHR’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Beiermann will continue to drive the organization’s work in population health management.

As SEO, Jim Beiermann will lead SWHR’s clinically integrated network of hospitals, physicians and other clinicians coordinating high-quality care for people and communities across North Texas. He will lead SWHR’s network performance in risk-based contracts and spearhead innovative, data-driven population health management strategies to improve healthcare in the region.

In 2020, SWHR saved Medicare more than $38 million and achieved a quality score of 97 percent as one of the nation’s Next Generation Accountable Care Organizations, according to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

“SWHR is paving the way in creating a healthcare model based on value,” said Beiermann, “And value can be achieved by providing quality care, improving clinical outcomes and delivering a great patient experience. When we do this and do what’s right for the patient, we can effectively lower the overall cost of delivering that exceptional care.”

SWHR’s network includes UT Southwestern faculty, Texas Health Physicians Group members and independent community physicians. Empowering providers to partner with patients in their care to achieve increased patient satisfaction and better clinical outcomes is one of SWHR’s primary objectives, along with serving the more than 13,000 Medicare beneficiaries in the Care N’ Care health plan.

“SWHR is not only shifting mindsets from fee-for-service to value-based care but also succeeding in implementation. To improve clinical performance, our network physicians leverage the resources SWHR provides — data, analytics, and innovative utilization and care management strategies,” said Beiermann. “Our high benchmarks in quality and cost savings demonstrate our commitment to patients, providers, employers and payors. We are all in this together and I’m honored to help lead the charge.”

Throughout his career, Beiermann has transformed business operations to drive growth, efficiency, and profits through process improvement, change management, cost management and strategic planning. As CFO at SWHR, Beiermann worked to build a connected system of care and unique payment model that achieved significant year-to-year overall savings.

“Jim has been an excellent steward of our financial resources, supported innovation in the quality care for our patients and will continue to focus on expanding our network to serve North Texas,” said Daniel K. Podolsky, MD, President of UT Southwestern Medical Center, who co-chairs SWHR with Barclay Berdan, FACHE, CEO of Texas Health Resources.

“His leadership and expertise will continue to be key in optimizing our financial efficiency, managing operational change and supporting our providers as they achieve high-quality clinical performance and collaboration at all levels,” said Berdan.

Beiermann has spent the past 30 years managing the cost of care and has been on all sides of the managed care spectrum — payor, provider and consumer. Before SWHR, he spent a third of his career with Wellpoint Anthem and held leadership roles at Conifer Health Solutions and Molina Healthcare.

Beiermann is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in finance.
