Chairman and CEO of Trendlines, Todd Dollinger, added, "We are very pleased with Gordian's progress; having completed more than 3,000 cases, our focus is now on growth. We look forward to their expansion into additional markets, bringing a truly innovative solution to the laparoscopic surgery market."
Gordian Surgical notes that until recently, surgeons had to either manually insert sutures in a time-consuming and sometimes difficult process at the conclusion of a lap surgical procedure, or close the lap port-site opening with an additional device. Improper lap port closure may result in an incidence of hernia up to 6%, where the intestine protrudes from a weakened abdominal muscle, necessitating additional surgery.
