AAOS Partners with J3P Healthcare Solutions

AAOS

The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) kicks off a three-year partnership with J3P Healthcare Solutions this summer, as part of the organizations’ ongoing commitment to leadership development.

Through the partnership, AAOS will further customize the AAOS Leadership Institute (ALI), a self-paced program, building the pipeline for AAOS’ future leaders.  Offered to members in four successive tiers, the program provides leadership training, mentorship and networking opportunities to members seeking to acquire and refine the skills needed to progress as a successful volunteer leader at AAOS.

The ALI program begins with Levels 1 and 2 as foundational learning, with access available to all members, to orient them into AAOS’ culture and prepare them for AAOS committee service. ALI Levels 3 and 4 are built around refined skills like change leadership and team effectiveness. The J3P leadership tools and the interactive sessions led by J3P’s expert consultants will augment the Level 3 and 4 program components with additional personalized leadership education and experiential learning.

“The opportunity to bring in a dedicated partner like J3P who is so versatile and experienced in physician leadership is very exciting,” said Joseph A. Bosco, III, MD, FAAOS, AAOS past president. “This hands-on program is about developing a personalized and differentiated learning experience for our potential future volunteers that will expand their unique leadership capacity through self-awareness, as the complexities and scope of leadership are dynamic and quite personal in nature.”

J3P will host the first in-person workshop for participants in ALI Level 4 in San Diego, during the AAOS 2021 Annual Meeting taking place August 31 – September 3, 2021. Participants will complete a proprietary Healthcare Professional Success Assessment, receive a confidential reporting package including an individualized mentor guide and have a one-on-one virtual debrief with one of J3P’s expert coaches.

“Our customized roadmap for this hands-on program is grounded in individual and organizational science, and is built around the specific, current needs of orthopaedic surgeons, and the AAOS as an organization,” said Alan Friedman, MA, founder and CEO, J3P Healthcare Solutions. “Together, we will create the foundation for current and future AAOS leaders to be more effective in their volunteer roles and better equip them with communication, listening, team building and other vital leadership skills.”

ALI Level 3 participants also will take part in an assessment, have access to a digital development platform and shared group leadership coaching. AAOS Members can begin ALI Level 1 at any time and should visit aaos.org/leadershipinstitute for more information.
