Dr. Ronald Dixon Named CMO at Remedy

Dr. Ronald Dixon joins Remedy as Chief Medical Officer. The news was announced today. Dixon is a Veteran health care technology executive and Harvard Medical School faculty and physician. He brings a deep background in leveraging virtual care for chronic disease management. Dr. Dixon will support the expansion of Remedy’s 24/7 medical services, including providing virtual care for people with chronic diseases.

Dr. Dixon’s appointment is the latest executive addition by Remedy, a doctor-founded health care company with tech-grounded services for virtual visits, clinics, in-home care, employers and private medical practices.

Remedy’s powerful combination of providing virtual visits and house calls in Texas’ major markets has generated a dramatic increase in positive patient outcomes, increasing access to medical care amid lockdowns caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

“Dr. Dixon’s experience in developing top-notch health care technology platforms and virtual disease-management protocols will help expand the services Remedy provides to our patients and employer partners,” said Dr. Jeremy Gabrysch, founder and CEO of Remedy. “With Ron’s guidance, the Remedy model for delivering health care will now help physicians more effectively manage not just acute conditions, but also a range of chronic conditions, including cardiovascular disease and mental health.”

Earlier this month, veteran health care executive Tabatha Erck joined Remedy as COO  to drive the expansion of Remedy’s footprint into major markets across the country.

“This rapid expansion of Remedy’s management team with seasoned health care providers and business executives demonstrates how the company is executing its accelerated growth strategy,” Gabrysch said.

Originally established as an urgent-care provider, Remedy employs a hybrid health care delivery model that offers virtual care, walk-in clinics, drive-through testing and in-home patient care. In addition to offering direct care to patients, Remedy is partnering with self-insured employers and primary-care practices to provide a convenient and comforting patient experience that helps improve health outcomes and reduce health care costs.

“The majority of our lives are spent outside of clinical settings,” said Dr. Dixon. “Many of us, especially as we age, will have to live with a chronic disease that will require continuous care. There is no better way to promote an effective and enduring relationship between patients and their trusted providers than through the use of communication technologies and diagnostic tools that can conveniently and noninvasively gather important health information between doctor visits.”

“Remedy’s approach gives patients and providers a frictionless experience that promotes peace of mind while improving patient outcomes and reducing the burden on the patient, the physician and the health care system as a whole,” he said.

Before joining Remedy, Dixon served as president and CEO of Onduo Professionals PC and head of clinical affairs of Onduo LLC, a joint venture between Verily (Google) and Sanofi, leading all research and clinical practice functions and certification processes for Onduo’s telemedicine practices. Dixon also founded Healthcare 360 Inc., a logistics-driven virtual care platform for chronic-disease management.

Previously, he was on faculty at Harvard Medical School as an assistant professor of medicine and served as medical director for the Center for the Integration of Medicine and Innovative Technology (CIMIT) at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) in Boston, where he also founded the hospital’s telemedicine program, MGH virtual visits.

Dixon received his medical degree from the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College, a master’s degree in neuropsychology from SUNY Buffalo and a bachelor’s degree in biology and psychology from McGill University. He is licensed to practice medicine in all 50 states.

He has published articles in publications such as Harvard Business Review and in peer-reviewed medical journals including Health Affairs, Journal of the American Medical Association, Telemedicine and e-Health, and the Journal of Telemedicine and Telecare.
