ExplORer Surgical, the only comprehensive intraoperative case support, and workflow platform, today announces a suite of advanced audio/video capabilities that make remote support highly efficient, promoting unprecedented levels of communication and guidance between the medical device rep and the surgical team.
The platform is the first to securely offer all of the key features for virtual meetings and communication that have become expected in the remote work world in a platform for surgery.
ExplORer Surgical uses augmented reality technology to elevate the user experience for both the rep and the surgical team. The system supports telestration for appropriately and quickly amplifying guidance virtually without disruption or distraction to workflow and efficiency. It also offers robust features for zooming in and out on objects, procedural areas, and other elements that require better visibility, as well as screen sharing. For example, while a rep in the room may use a laser pointer to highlight key instruments on the mayo stand, a remote rep or proctor may highlight that item remotely on the screen. They can also save a picture of that telestration to ExplORer’s secure server.
Recently launched to alleviate new restrictions created by the COVID-19 pandemic, ExplORer Surgical’s HIPAA compliant, two-way video for case support and remote proctoring works alongside the platform’s unique digitized procedural workflow application. This digital workflow creates a playbook of best practices specific to the procedure and each member of the surgical team, making critical information accessible throughout the procedure.
These updates are laying the groundwork for ExplORer Surgical’s upcoming advanced analytics release, which leverages both the video and the digital playbook offerings to apply artificial intelligence to its dataset. The platform already collects data and insights on actions and steps taken during the procedure to highlight areas for improvement, consistent bottlenecks, and more.
