How KINVENT Uses Precision Data to Enhance Rehabilitation By Athanase Kollias

For as long as I can remember, physical therapy was a guessing game, and a pretty challenging one at that. High-level professionals across multiple disciplines, be it rehabilitation specialists, elite athletic coaches or fitness trainers, had to rely on educated approximations, subjective assumptions and more gray area than we’d like to admit. But it wasn’t the fault of these skilled and experienced professionals. Rather, the problem could be found in technological limitations throughout these industries. And of course, without a viable alternative solution out there, physical therapists, coaches and trainers needed to simply accept the landscape they were given — to the detriment of their patients and clients.

This is exactly why I founded KINVENT: to bring objective, precise biofeedback data into the physical therapy space. We’ve developed seven smart physical therapy devices that measure strength, balance and range of motion. And with our cutting-edge, connected app, these measurements and their associated insights can be collected, studied, and analyzed in real-time.

And the benefits of the KINVENT solution go far beyond just accuracy and precision. By engaging patients with positive data of their improvements during the healing process, we’re able to foster more effective outcomes and more efficient progress. In this article, I’ll be sharing in great detail how we’re using state-of-the-art technology and instantaneous data to enhance patient recovery.

First, a Look into the Devices

Before I delve into KINVENT’s many benefits and advantages for care providers and patients alike, I think it’s important to introduce KINVENT’s seven devices. Here’s a brief overview:

K-Pull: Our pull dynamometer, K-Pull measures isometric strength and can be affixed to stable surfaces such as a physiotherapist’s table, wall bars or through a pulley system — delivering operator-independent measurements in real time.

K-Push: This hand-held dynamometer offers precise strength assessments, with electronic force transducers that deliver instantaneous acoustic and optic biofeedback on a multitude of different assessments.

K-Move: Our connected goniometer provides precise range of motion data, featuring an inertial sensor that offers a highly accurate way to assess and monitor patients.

K-Bubble: This is our pneumatic dynamometer that can be inserted into any inflatable object, featuring a precise pressure sensor that can receive a wide variety of accurate force measurements.

K-Grip: This grip dynamometer measures strength for a variety of different patient groups, from elderly patients to high performance athletes.

K-Force Plates: Our lightweight and portable force plates can be used in physiotherapists’ offices as well as on the road. They are designed to measure static and dynamic assessments and exercises in proprioception.

K-Deltas: These are our elite-level force plates, enabling precise measurement of static and dynamic balance for a wide range of movements, featuring extended load capacity and sampling frequency.

Now, let’s talk about how KINVENT uses the latest technological breakthroughs for better rehabilitation:

Prolonged Patient Engagement

KINVENT allows rehab professionals to share real-time performance analysis data with their patients. By opening a window into the patient’s personal journey, they become more invested in their progress and are encouraged to work harder towards their rehab goals. In a recent in-house study conducted by physiotherapists working with our devices, patient engagement was reported as 50% higher when using KINVENT.

Reduced or Eliminated No-Shows

Physical therapists, on average, report a 31% no-show rate of their patients. But with KINVENT’s integrated and immersive physiotherapy solution, patients are inspired to continue returning to their treatment, motivated by the possibility of noticeable improvement and consistent progress.

Creating Customized Patient Protocols

The KINVENT app allows rehab professionals to create their own training protocols, customized to specific patients. These protocols can then be saved and shared throughout multiple offices in their organization. Once these rehabilitation protocols are in place, providers can measure their efficacy with different patients, helping professionals refine and improve their treatment plans.

More Patients, Less Time

When sports, fitness and rehab specialists implement KINVENT’s physiotherapy solution, they receive more precise data and rely less on the guesswork and estimations that come with other methods. This, in turn, leads to a quicker treatment, recovery and turnaround time, meaning that they can see more patients in their practice. An increased bottom line also means providers have more resources at their disposal to invest back into their patients.

Expanded Referrals

The KINVENT connected app has the capability to produce in-depth, sharable reports on patient progress. When offering referring doctors transparent insights into their patient’s treatment plan, physiotherapists build trust among their medical partnerships, creating more referrals, higher profits and better care opportunities for their patients.

I founded KINVENT with an aim to bring the power of precision and accuracy into rehabilitation and athletic training. And thanks to a truly motivated team behind me, support from physiotherapists around the world and the latest technological breakthroughs on the market — we’re actually achieving it.
