There are many ways in which you can stay healthy without even knowing it. You may already have a daily routine that helps keep your body running smoothly, but what about when something goes wrong?  Here are 6 things you can add to your diet to help keep those issues at bay.

1. Supplements

There are so many supplements out there, it can be hard to choose which ones are worth your time, budget, and health.  In general, supplements are good to have on hand when you feel a little off balance in your diet or lifestyle, but they’re never a substitute for a healthy diet. When shopping for supplements, look for products that contain vitamins A, C, and E, which help boost the immune system. There are many kinds that you can pick from, you can choose from Pure Encapsulations supplements, the ones that will help with your immune system, so you are less likely to get sick or have health issues.

2. Fruits and Vegetables

All the nutrients you need are available in your local grocery store, provided you don’t run them through a microwave.  Many fruits and vegetables have been shown to improve brain function, keep skin healthy, help control blood sugar levels, and boost heart health. To get the most nutritional value out of them, however, you should steam them. There are many recipes online, so make the most out of your fruit and vegetables. There are apples that have great antioxidants for your body, like vitamin C, which can help you stay healthy all year round. Also, oranges have lots of vitamin C in them as well, just like some other fruits. For some other tips on cooking, find forums or websites that promote healthy living, and they will surely have them.

3. Whole Grains

It’s time to put down the white bread and pick up a loaf of whole wheat. You may have heard people talking about the benefits of fiber in their diet, and now you know where it’s coming from.  Just a single serving a day can reduce your risk for heart disease, diabetes, stroke, and even certain types of cancer. If you don’t want to switch bread or anything too drastically, start by mixing some whole grains into what you already eat. There are many kinds of whole grains out there, but most include oats or brown rice. Whole grain pasta is another good source of fiber as well.

4. Fish

Fish is one among 6 things to add to your diet in order to stay healthy that has lots of good oils our body needs.  High in protein, heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin D, and vitamin B12, it’s easy to see why fish are so healthy for us.  This delicious food can be baked, broiled, grilled, or steamed to perfection. There are many kinds of fish you can try out there, so look them up online or ask your friends about the types they have tried before. Fish is low in calories, and it has lots of good oils our body needs.

5. Nuts

They’re not only a great source of fats, but they also contain various vitamins and minerals that can make your life more nutritious as well as delicious.  Just like the other foods on this list, nuts provide some antioxidants that can help boost your immune system, while also stabilizing blood sugar levels. If you have a sweet tooth, don’t worry!  There are some choices that won’t leave you with an energy crash later. Also, nuts are rich in vitamin E which helps give you beautiful skin, and it also helps reduce the risk of heart disease.

6. Water

You may be asking yourself, ‘How is water one of 6 things to add to your diet in order to stay healthy?’, but experts agree it’s incredibly important for us to drink the right amount every day.  The general rule is that women should drink 9 cups (2.13 l) of water per day, while men should drink 13.  If you work out and/or it’s hot, don’t be afraid to add an extra glass or two in there. Start your morning with a tall glass of water to make sure you’re hydrated and set yourself up for success for the rest of the day. This will make a big difference in how you feel, and can even help promote weight loss!
