Delray Medical Center is proud to offer patients an advanced approach to total shoulder replacement with the INHANCE INTACT™ Tissue Sparing Surgical Technique, performed by orthopedic shoulder and elbow surgeon Dr. Vani Sabesan. Dr. Sabesan is the only surgeon south of Orlando performing this innovative procedure, providing patients across South Florida with access to one of the latest advancements in shoulder replacement surgery close to home.
Traditional anatomic shoulder replacement commonly requires releasing and later repairing the subscapularis tendon, an important component of the rotator cuff, to access the shoulder joint. The INHANCE INTACT™ technique is designed to preserve the subscapularis tendon, minimizing disruption of the shoulder’s native soft tissues during surgery.  Because the tendon does not need to be released and repaired, appropriately selected patients may be able to begin moving their shoulder as early as the first day after surgery, without some of the restrictions traditionally required to protect a healing subscapularis repair.
“Delray Medical Center is committed to bringing the latest surgical innovations and innovative orthopedic care directly to our community.” said Heather Havericak, CEO of Delray Medical Center. “Having Dr. Vani Sabesan offer this highly specialized tissue- spring procedure gives South Florida patients access to another advanced treatment option close to home, with a goal of helping patient’s recover and return to the activities they enjoy.”
The tissue-sparing approach offers several potential benefits for patients, including:
  • Earlier shoulder motion, potentially beginning on the first day after surgery
  • Faster rehabilitation and recovery
  • Preservation of the subscapularis tendon, which may reduce the risk of shoulder instability and revision surgery
  • High patient satisfaction and low complication rates
  • Potential for shorter hospital stays and reduced overall healthcare costs
“Shoulder replacement has traditionally focused on replacing the damaged joint, but we are increasingly thinking about how we can accomplish that while preserving as much of the patient’s normal anatomy as possible,” said Dr. Sabesan, orthopedic surgeon at Delray Medical Center. “By utilizing this tissue-sparing technique, we’re able to minimize disruption to the shoulder’s anatomy, allowing many patients to begin moving their shoulder immediately after surgery. That can translate into a faster recovery, greater confidence during rehabilitation, and an earlier return to everyday life.”
Dr. Sabesan is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in shoulder and elbow surgery and serves on the medical staff at Delray Medical Center. She is a nationally recognized surgeon, researcher and educator in shoulder surgery and recently made history as the first female president of the Florida Orthopaedic Society.
The introduction of this tissue-sparing shoulder replacement technique reflects Delray Medical Center’s continued commitment to expanding access to innovative orthopedic care and surgical approaches designed to preserve function, enhance recovery and improve the overall patient experience. Visit.
