Men’s health can be a cause for concern as some men struggle to look after their health and will avoid seeing a healthcare professional for checkups or any issues they are having. This is why it is helpful to be aware of some of the most common men’s health issues in 2023 so that men know what they should be wary of and when they need to seek the advice of a healthcare professional. In 2023, there is a wide range of health issues for men, some of which are more recent, while others have been major risks for a long time.

Mental Health

In 2023, one of the biggest health issues for men is mental health. Mental health problems have increased in people of all ages and genders in recent years, especially since the pandemic. While mental health is being talked about more, there is still much more to be done, and many men will have mental health issues that go undiagnosed. If you are struggling with feelings of anxiety, stress, anger, or sadness, then it is important that you speak to a mental health professional, as there are things that can be done.

Heart Disease

Did you know that more men die of heart disease than any other cause of death? This can include heart failure, heart attacks, and coronary heart disease. It is usually a result of lifestyle factors, so men need to know how to look after their heart health. This includes:

  • Regular exercise
  • Healthy diet
  • Managing stress
  • Getting enough sleep
  • Quitting smoking

It is also a good idea to get regular checkups so that heart issues can be detected and treated early.

Erectile Dysfunction

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is another common health issue that can affect men of all ages. As it can be an embarrassing health issue, many men will not seek medical advice, which could affect their life in many ways. There are a number of reasons why a man struggles to achieve and/or maintain an erection, including physical health issues, psychological issues, and underlying health issues. This is why it is important to determine the cause so that the right solution can be found. There is also medication that can treat ED, such as sildenafil tablets that allow more blood to enter the penis.

Cancer

Cancer is the second-leading cause of death among men in the US, and skin, prostate, colorectal, and lung cancer are a few of the most common cancers in men. A healthy lifestyle is key, as well as regular health checkups and screenings, as early detection is key.

Obesity

Obesity is a major issue, with more than 2 in 5 adults being obese (including severe obesity). Obesity can affect quality of life but also increase the risk of serious health issues like diabetes and heart disease. Regular exercise and a healthy, balanced diet are key for losing and maintaining a healthy weight, but there are also surgeries to help individuals lose weight.

These are some of the most common health issues in men that people need to be aware of and understand in 2023.
