Health Tips: An Easy Guide To Properly Disinfecting A Room

It’s important to have a clean and healthy living environment. After all, your home is the place you spend the most time. It should be a safe haven that provides relaxation after a long day of work or school. However, with so many chemicals and methods available, it can become difficult to determine which method will best suit your needs. Follow this guide for an easy-to-follow process on how to properly disinfect your room!

1) Use Eco-Friendly Products

When it comes to disinfecting your room, always opt for environmentally friendly products. This would include using plant-based cleansers instead of chemical-based cleansers. Chemicals often cause ecological damage, which is why opting for an eco-friendly disinfectant is the best choice. These types of disinfectants include ingredients such as lemon juice, vinegar, baking soda, salt, alcohol, and hydrogen peroxide. You can recognize them by the label that says “eco-friendly” or  “green”. Additionally, look out for products that are biodegradable because they will not harm the environment when they are disposed of.

2) Vacuum the Floor First

Before disinfecting, it’s best to vacuum your floor. Sweep or vacuum the entire room in order to remove any loose particles that have accumulated on the floor. This is a necessary step when you want a clean and healthy living environment. These loose particles will only sit on top of the floor and can easily contaminate the room. In order to ensure that your room is safe, always vacuum as a first step before disinfecting, and you should do this at least once a week. After vacuuming, it’s best to mop the floor as well. Mop the entire room and then wait for it to dry in order to ensure maximum cleanliness.

3) Disinfect The Surfaces

After vacuuming and mopping, it’s time to disinfect. Disinfectants are available in the form of sprays, wipes, powder, liquids, aerosols, or gels so there are many options for you. Using a sponge or cloth, wipe the entire area with the disinfectant product of your choice. Remember to wipe the areas that are most often touched by people. These include door handles, light switches, faucets, sinks, toilets, and bathtubs. These areas should be cleaned every day to ensure the safety of your room.

4) Disinfect The Air

In order to make sure that all bacteria and viruses are eliminated from your room, it’s best to disinfect the air as well. First, you should open your windows to let the fresh air come in. You can use some homemade air fresheners in order to keep the room smelling fresh. You can use essential oils in hot water, or you can spray some natural scents to improve the smell of your room. Additionally, place a few open bowls with vinegar in various places around your room. Vinegar is an excellent disinfectant, and it will absorb any odors coming from cooking in the kitchen or any other area of the house. This will also keep your room smelling fresh.

If you want even cleaner air, purchase an ionizer and use it to help eliminate harmful bacteria from your room. Ionizers are machines that emit ions at high speeds, which will capture harmful bacteria and viruses and remove them from the air. They are an excellent way to keep your room cleaner, and they never require any cleaning!

4) Clean Towels And Cloths

If you use disposable cloths or paper towels, then there’s no need to wash or clean them. However, it would be better for both you and your environment if you use a cloth or towel multiple times before throwing it away. To clean them, it’s best to use a disinfectant spray. First, wash the items with natural soap and then spray some disinfectant on them before washing again. This will ensure that any harmful bacteria is eliminated from your towels and clothing. Always allow your towels to air dry in order to keep them smelling fresh for longer.

5) Change Your Sheets

When it comes to disinfecting your room, always remember to change your sheets and pillowcases. Sheets and pillowcases should be washed and dried at least once a week. Instead of using regular pillows, you can try using pillows filled with flaxseed, which will naturally absorb any bad odors coming from your pillow. These are both excellent ways to ensure that your room is fresh and clean.

6) Clean Your Curtains And Blinds

Lastly, your curtains and blinds accumulate dust too, so it’s best to clean them as well. Your window dressings are an important part of the room décor, so they should be kept clean at all times. It’s best to take them off the windows and wash them with soapy water before letting them dry in the sun. Regularly cleaning your window dressings will ensure that you have a fresh room! Clean your windows and blinds with natural remedies such as vinegar and lemon. The citric acid will remove the stains and vinegar will make sure that your windows are shining! You should also use a cloth made of natural fibers such as cotton to clean your windows. Any synthetic materials can scratch the glass and cause damage over time.

You can do many things to keep your room clean and smelling fresh. You’ll want to use a disinfectant spray on any area you touch the most, such as door handles or light switches. Whenever possible, it’s best if you buy items that are reusable, so they don’t have to be thrown away after one use. You should also buy or make products that are eco-friendly. The best environmentally-friendly ingredients include vinegar, lemon, essential oils, and baking soda. Make sure you change sheets and pillowcases at least once a week, too! The more time spent cleaning up now will save money in the long run by preventing damage from occurring due to bacteria buildup over time. Disinfection is one of the most important things that we can do in our day-to-day lives because it helps prevent unwanted bacteria from making us sick. We hope this simple showed you how to properly clean and disinfect your room!
