Penumbra recently launched the ACCESS25 Delivery Microcatheter, a single lumen medical device designed to aid physicians in accessing the neurovasculature for the delivery of Penumbra’s advanced .020” coil platform. ACCESS25 is compatible with Penumbra’s MIDWAYTM Intermediate catheters and BENCHMARKTM/BMX® guide catheters and was designed to facilitate ease of trackability and stable support when delivering Penumbra’s unique .020” coils for neurovascular embolization such as PC400TM, POD400TM, and PAC400TM.
“The new ACCESS25 delivery microcatheter has not only proven its tracking capabilities in numerous procedures,” says Dr. Scott McPherson, an interventional neuroradiologist at St. Dominic’s Hospital, “but it has also showcased stability amidst procedural complexities in aneurysm management.”
Clinicians using PC400 coils reported lower aneurysm recanalization and recurrence rates, higher packing density, fewer coils needed, and lower procedure time compared to 10-system coils.
“The design of ACCESS25 allows the distal tip to deliver the coil as if it were painting it into the aneurysms during deployment,” says Dr. Navraj Heran, MD, a neurosurgeon affiliated with Royal Columbian Hospital in Vancouver, BC. “This new technology provided noticeable improvements throughout the procedure.”
Designed for Aneurysm Access
ACCESS25 offers enhanced deliverability for efficient aneurysm embolization.
- Soft Precision. The atraumatic polymer tip design with radiopaque makerband optimizes device positioning.
- Advanced Flexibility. Soft, highly flexible distal zone is reinforced with nitinol coil wind to promote trackability through difficult anatomy.
- Optimized Midsection. Advanced polymers are engineered for progressive transition from proximal support to distal flexibility.
- Tactile Support. Designed to resist back-out during deployment and promote distal-to-proximal energy transfer and pushability.
ACCESS25 is available in a variety of tip shapes, including straight, 45-degree, 90-degree, and 130-degree.
