8 Meaningful Ways To Help Fight Poverty

Help Fight Poverty:

Poverty has been the world’s most serious problem over the years. Fortunately, during these recent years, some programs like high-quality healthcare, education, and national partnership have helped buffer the effects of poverty. Through education, people have realized that different policy choices can bring hugely different outcomes.

Furthermore, the government has a more significant role in fighting poverty, assisted by a non-governmental organization (NGO), which has helped by implementing long-term programs for thousands of people in the country, including children. Particularly, NGOs are one of the charities that help poverty in India. Along with other countries, India has been mostly affected by the poverty crisis due to the lack of basic facilities and infrastructure.

These charities have been working so hard to provide education to underprivileged children, housing for everyone, and enough food for the family.

To help fight poverty anywhere in the world, here are more meaningful ways to battle against it and alleviate its effects.

  • Create Jobs

One of the solutions to fighting poverty is by creating jobs for low and middle-class people to significantly help with their basic daily needs. The government has to play a more significant role in looking for ways in expanding job creation to kickstart job offerings for these sectors in society.

If you’re a business owner, you can also contribute to creating job opportunities in your area. These people might not have the proper educational attainment as you do but certainly, they possess a skill that your company might need. Doing this kind of gesture may greatly contribute to your corporate responsibility practices.

Keep in mind that creating job opportunities helps people get out of poverty permanently, instead of just giving them help to survive just for a short time.

  • Establish Work Schedule That Works

Hourly jobs and low wages may come along with unpredictable shifting work schedules, which means people in the lower class may struggle more to keep up and balance their work hours. An ever-changing schedule makes it even more challenging to take care of the family because they aren’t sure how much they’re getting when payday comes.

Furthermore, by implementing a balanced work schedule, the employee can provide extra time to take care of their family and themselves, such as attending school meetings or getting a medical check-up. Every employee should have access to proper healthcare for their whole family to lessen the burden of finding more ways to earn just to finance their medical needs. A great number of families suffer from poverty because of that.

Also, a reasonable schedule will guarantee fixed end-of-month pay, to enable your family to permanently get out of poverty.

  • Raise The Minimum Wage

Back then, a full-time worker earning a minimum wage would be able to raise his family comfortably. But today, due to inflation, the percentage at which the economy has risen obliges business owners to raise the minimum wage to live at least comfortably.

That said, the government should always consider the lower and middle-class people before making any drastic changes in the economy. And as proven in many countries, boosting the minimum wage may reduce poverty in significant proportions.

  • Growth Of Non-Farm Employment

It’s essential to reduce the poverty growth of non-farm employment in rural areas to support the farm-employed ones.

Studies have shown poverty increases more due to a significant increase in non-farm employment. This scenario might be inevitable as economic efforts are on the rise even in rural areas, but supporting the needs of the farmers and its needed resources to work and process food for their community will eventually reduce the poverty rate.

  • Improve Food Security And Clean Water

Eating a proper meal during the day and getting access to clean water can go a long way to addressing the poverty situation. When a person doesn’t get enough meals for each day, they lack the energy needed to work. Moreover, contaminated water can also cause illnesses that can prevent you from working.

Improving access to clean water and food will also impact those who live in rural areas because it’ll save them time walking to the nearest water point other than the river.

  • End War And Conflict

When there is no war, it means the cost that would have been covered for conflict can be used to deliver other valuable public services. It also ensures safety for the most vulnerable communities and attains the goals set towards equality and inclusion. War and conflict drain people’s strength to work and make an effort to eradicate poverty.

War and conflict are best known to increase the poverty rate in a country. Its recovery also takes a long time to get back to normal.

  • End Poverty Tax

People living in low minimum wage neighborhoods pay extra money for almost everything, such as tax, food, transportation, and high-interest loans. Furthermore, many banks don’t associate with poor communities.  Is the fair tax really fair? That is the question everybody keeps on asking themselves because the rate of rising poverty is undeniable.

Poverty tax doesn’t enrich the country, but it increases poverty rates diminishing the countries’ performances. Eliminating this tax and treating each person regardless of their neighborhood will help fight poverty.

  • Increase Access To Education

According to history, if all the students in middle-class countries had experience in essential reading and learning skills, a million people could overcome poverty. Also, this applies to adults. If the majority of them went through learning, the poverty rate in these countries would be reduced by half. Education helps one have skills and abilities on how to live and cope with life.

Education will significantly broaden people’s choice of work and they’ll be able to choose a job that’s fit to their capabilities and earn more to provide for their family’s needs. Being educated will undoubtedly help eradicate poverty in a country.

Conclusion

The above meaningful ways must be taken seriously to improve the county’s poverty state and enable its financial status. The government has also been the most significant trigger in contributing to poverty. If the government doesn’t develop infrastructure, condemn war and conflict, and include people’s needs in the budget, there is no way the poverty rate will decrease.

Expansion of health programs has lowered infant mortality rates and low birth rates. Poverty is not inevitable, and you just need to come up with policies that will ensure economic security and substantial growth of opportunities.
