Delray Medical Center vascular surgeon Dr Joseph Ricotta is the first in the world to utilize the Celt ACD PLUS System in a procedure.

The Celt ACD is an innovative small-bore closure device available in 5F, 6F, and 7F sizes, designed for rapid arterial puncture closure following percutaneous catheter-based vascular procedures. It helps seal the artery after a procedure, reducing the risk for complications. Its novel mechanism of action reduces major vascular closure complications such as bleeding, hematomas, and pseudoaneurysms. Clinical data has demonstrated significant reductions in time to hemostasis, ambulation, and discharge, leading to improved efficiency and cost savings in post-anesthesia care. This next-generation device enhances the proven Celt ACD® platform by providing physicians with a visual indication for precise placement and closure, particularly beneficial in cases where ultrasound imaging is not available.
The milestone procedure was completed at the Prime Vascular Institute in Delray Beach, which was founded by Dr. Ricotta.

“The Celt ACD PLUS is another surgical option for patients, ensuring that they have the best chance of a good outcome,” said Dr. Ricotta. “By investing in the latest medical technology, we remain at the forefront of innovation as medicine continues to advance.”
Dr. Ricotta is the National Medical Director of Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Therapy for Tenet Healthcare, and Professor of Surgery and Founder and Program Director of the Vascular Surgery at Florida Atlantic University’s School of Medicine.

Dr. Ricotta’s expertise in the field has earned him numerous accolades, including the prestigious TCAR Clinical Operator of Excellence distinction from Silk Road Medical in 2020, an award recognizing top physicians for superior outcomes in TCAR procedures. With over two decades of experience, Dr. Ricotta has also been repeatedly recognized as a National Top Doctor by Castle Connolly, voted one of the Best Vascular Surgeons by Newsweek Magazine, and has contributed more than 300 peer-reviewed articles to medical literature.

Scott Kraus, CEO of Vasorum USA, Inc., emphasized the company’s mission to transform vascular closure technology. “The FDA clearance of Celt ACD PLUS marks an exciting milestone for Vasorum and the physicians we serve,” stated Kraus. “By enhancing the safety and efficiency of arterial closure, we continue to build on our commitment to innovation and improving procedural outcomes for both physicians and patients.”
