LifeQ Offers the First of its Kind 24-Hour Sleep Solution

One in three adults worldwide exhibit insomnia symptoms making it a common sleep disorder. We all know that sleep is essential for vital functioning which is why sleep hygiene, which encompasses decent sleeping habits and preparation, is vital to get adequate sleep. To understand the sleep process of an individual, LifeQ is releasing a 24-hour solution through a wearable device that will provide ‘near clinical quality’ data streams to develop health and wellness solutions.

Factors Affecting Poor Quality of Sleep

Failure to get quality rest is attributed to several factors. For example, distressing nightmares evoke intense emotions such as fear, anxiety, and sadness. Hence, an individual may wake up abruptly during the sleep process disrupting their sleep cycle. Although the occasional nightmare is part of the normal sleep process, frequent bad dreams can impact mental health and daytime functioning. Treatment options for nightmare episodes include cognitive behavioral therapy, medications, and stress and anxiety management, sleep hygiene, and lifestyle changes.

Various medical conditions can also interfere with sleep as well as chronic pain like arthritis, asthma, heartburn, and neurological disorders while stimulants and antidepressants  affect sleep quality.  Other factors such as caffeine and alcohol consumption, inconsistent sleep schedule, electronic gadgets, noise, temperature, and light – all impact sleep quality. Age is a factor as well  with older adults experiencing changes in sleep structure leading to more frequent awakenings.

Understanding Sleep Disorders

To this end, LifeQ unveiled an innovative sleep solution for both clinicians and patients to help them unravel sleep disorders and achieve better sleep quality. In the process, health and wellness are improved. The 24-hour sleep solution unlocks the power of wearables by identifying and classifying all sleep activities within a 24-hour period. Mr. Olivier, co- founder of LifeQ said that the company is providing more tools to assist clinicians better in diagnosing and treating sleep problems.

Dr. Du Preez, the company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) also stated that sleep clinicians understand that rest is a vital component of health. Therefore, sleep quality is essential because it affects all aspects of life. Hence, the new 24-Hour Sleep Health solution features over 40 sleep metrics that will provide extraordinary insight into sleep health. The wearable device which is non-invasive and affordable also records naps and rest periods outside of a sleep episode. In this regard, the solution is a formidable tool that sleep clinicians can use because it logs in the patient’s ‘longitudinal sleep history.’  Furthermore, the device identifies the patient’s ‘unique sleep circadian window.’ Hence it is helpful in determining when the body needs rest and the best time to get it. If underlying sleep disorders are detected, the user can relay the info to the doctor as soon as possible. Remote care and monitoring are possible using the device because data is accessible through the LifeQ Sleep Specialist Dashboard. What this means is clinicians and caregivers can work together to provide a comprehensive service.

A constant stream of sleep data is important to act quickly on interferences that prevent people from getting quality rest. LifeQ’s wearable device aims to address this key concern.
