Precision OS Announces Professor Richard Satava as Key Simulation Advisor

Precision OS, developers of a medical-grade virtual reality™ learning platform, are excited to announce Dr. Richard Satava has joined their team of advisors.

In his role, Dr. Satava will provide his wealth of experience in simulation, research and surgical expertise toward the development of enhanced immersive training and education modules created by Precision OS.

As a highly experienced surgeon and active board member across countless medical organizations, Dr. Satava will provide invaluable interdisciplinary input and expertise through a simulation lens. Dr. Satava, current Professor Emeritus of Surgery at the University of Washington, past Program Manager at Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and former Senior Science Advisor for the US Army Medical Research Command, will bring his depth of experience to Precision OS and assist with implementing future upgrades and strategic simulation advancements to the software.

Dr. Satava was instrumental in developing the first virtual reality surgical simulators and has extended expertise with advanced surgical technology, virtual reality, surgical simulation and surgical training.

He has also served on the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) Committee on Health, Food and Safety. He is currently a member of the Technology Enhanced Surgical Education Committee of the American College of Surgeons (ACS), is past president of the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) and the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons (SLS), and is a former member of the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME).
