Topcon Healthcare and OphtAI Announce their Partnership in EMEA

Topcon Healthcare Solutions EMEA Oy (Topcon Healthcare), a leading provider of medical devices and software solutions for the global eye care community, and OphtAI, a joint venture specialised in Artificial Intelligence (AI) for ophthalmology, are pleased to announce their partnership. The partnership will see OphtAI integrated into Topcon’s vendor-neutral data management solution, Harmony Referral System (Harmony), and provide eye care professionals smarter access to AI services.

The state-of-the-art OphtAI Artificial Intelligence algorithm assists eye care professionals in detecting eye pathologies such as diabetic retinopathy and its gradation, macular edema, glaucoma, and AMD at an early stage within only a few seconds, and with only one colour fundus image.

As a result of the partnership, eye care professionals can now enjoy access to OphtAI from Harmony, regardless of which colour fundus device they might be using. Topcon Harmony is a vendor-neutral data management platform, meaning it can be connected to any device, regardless of manufacturer. Harmony gives eye care professionals the flexibility to choose the best devices for their business whilst simultaneously streamlining their clinical workflow by facilitating a single-screen review of all data. Harmony supports vendor-neutral connectivity to devices and Patient Management Systems (PMS) as well as other 3rd party software solutions, providing eye care professionals with workflows designed to answer the specific needs of their clinic or organisation. For Topcon, the partnership with OphtAI strengthens the already existing AI service portfolio that is offered via the platform’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) Marketplace. Through the AI Marketplace, Harmony customers can choose their preferred AI partner and access the automatic image analysis tool of their choice with one single click, straight from the Harmony viewer.

”At Topcon Healthcare, we provide eye care professionals globally with access to innovative solutions for enhanced patient care and effective workflows. This partnership with OphtAI provides our customers with another solution that can help improve efficiency and drive better patient outcomes by making the latest technology an accessible and easy to use part of their everyday workflow.” states Riina Rautee, Director, Sales & Business Development, EMEA for Topcon Healthcare.

”To fully unleash the potential of Artificial Intelligence within the eye care industry, it has to be smartly integrated into the tools that eye care professionals use daily in their clinical workflow. From that perspective, the integration of OphtAI into Harmony is a success. It enables us to bring AI as close as possible to the patients that need it and deliver a higher value proposition to the Optometrists and Ophthalmologists by utilising Topcon’s solutions.” says Alexandre Le Guilcher, OphtAI CEO.
