Life Spine notes: The paper assessed the results of 100 patients who underwent transforaminal lumbar spinal fusion via minimally invasive surgery at L4-L5 or L5-S1. The objective of the paper was to see how the ProLift® Expandable Spacer System affected patient reported outcomes, sagittal alignment, and restoration of disc height and foraminal height comparative to static interbody cages.
Monteris Medical Announces Publication of Largest Series of NeuroBlate Laser Interstitial Thermal Therapy for Biopsy-Proven Radiation Necrosis
The largest prospectively-gathered dataset, collected through the company’s LAANTERN (Laser Ablation of Abnormal Neurological Tissue Using Robotic NeuroBlate System) multi-center study and comprised of 90 patients with biopsy-proven RN, showed that LITT with NeuroBlate is a safe and highly effective minimally invasive option for the treatment of RN.
Assessing the Cardiac Risks of Cobalt in Hip Replacements
Some hip replacements can contain Cobalt and could potentially affect heart function in some patients. The study has also identified, for the first time, a link between cobalt-induced changes in calcium levels in heart muscle cells and reduced contraction of the heart.
